2014 High School Juried Art Show

Cumberland County Schools, in partnership with the ARTS COUNCIL OF FAYETTEVILLE/CUMBERLAND COUNTY Presents
2014 High School Juried Art Show.

“Since attending the annual High School Juried Art Show for many years, this may be one of th strongest years I have observed in a long time.  In that it is so strong, it made jurying the exhibition that more difficult to select the awards.  I am drawn to skill, creativity, the use of the elements of art and design, and significant content in a work. The use of color, in any of the categories, is a specific challenge and becomes highly relevant in the success of a work”
Soni Martin, Professor of Art
Fayetteville State University

Massey Hill Classical High School would like to congratulate all of our students that participated in this art show!

AWhite House Trip

Theatre student, Dorien Caldwell, included his fellow theatre classmates in a project called, “The White House Student Film Festival”. Soon after submitting his final project, Mr. Caldwell was informed that his film entry was a finalist of  the 2,500 film entries. He and his five guests traveled to the nations capital to meet The President of the United States, interview with Bill Nye the Science Guy, and a host of other celebrity guests. Along with the festivities of the evening, all of the student film makers previewed the upcoming television show,  Cosmos. This educational, motivational, and awe inspiring adventure lasted just one day but will live on in the minds of these Massey Hill High School students for their lifetime.

Science Olympiad
Good Morning All!

On Saturday, the MHCHS Science Olympiad Varsity and Junior Varsity teams competed at FTCC for the Regional Tournament. This is the first competition of the year for Science Olympiad (and for teams who don’t make it to States, it is the only competition). I am extremely pleased and proud to announce that we brought back First Place overall in Varsity and Junior Varsity! After a crazy week or two leading up the the event with unpredictable weather and many other obstacles, we did it! Undefeated for two years!! Please join me in congratulating the kids! (I will post a list of individual medals in each event as soon as I get it prepared) A special thanks to Mr. Miller who helped me coach, and also a special thanks to Mrs. Russell for her guidance and support! We couldn’t have done it without everyone working together. (Bethany Cornelius, Science Teacher)
