SUPPORT MASSEY HILL CLASSICAL AT HARRIS TEETER
Published by Julianne Dunn on December 16, 2019
.....................................................................................................................................................................................

Did you know that your Harris Teeter VIC card can earn money for Massey Hill Classical High School? The Together in Education program has donated over twenty million dollars to schools since its inception in 1998, and in the last quarter of 2014 alone awarded nearly $300,000 to area schools.  Harris Teeter will contribute a percentage of all HT brand purchases to the Massey Hill TIE account when your VIC card is linked to our school. There are two easy ways to link your card – either ask your cashier to link your card to Massey Hill Classical High School TIE code #3331 for you, or if registering online, go to Harris Teeter’s Together in Education page, log in to your account, and link your card. We will receive payments quarterly for amounts over $250; any lesser amounts will be rolled over into the next cycle. Thank you for your support!

Wellness Tip

Wellness Tip: Childhood Obesity Awareness

Image of several children running through grass with caption of Childhood Obesity Awareness MonthOne in three children in the United States is overweight or obese. Childhood obesity puts kids at risk for health problems that were once seen only in adults, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

The good news is that childhood obesity can be prevented. CCS encourages your family to make healthy changes together.

  • Get active outside: Walk around the neighborhood, go on a bike ride, or play basketball at the park.
  • Limit screen time: Keep screen time (time spent on the computer, watching TV, or playing video games) to 2 hours or less a day.
  • Make healthy meals: Buy and serve more vegetables, fruits, and whole-grain foods.

Taking small steps as a family can help your child stay at a healthy weight.

Jars of water with fruit in themWhat you drink is as important as what you eat. Many beverages contain added sugars and often little or no nutrients, while others may provide nutrients but too much fat and too many calories. Jazz up your water by adding slices of fruit or fresh mint, rosemary, or basil. Try these Tips for Making Better Beverage Choices. For more helpful healthy tips visit wellness.ccs.k12.nc.us.
