Community energy powers “Bracy on Board”
Families, staff and community members gathered to launch Bracy on Board: A Listening and Learning Journey. These events marked the start of Superintendent Dr. Eric Bracy’s community listening tour and the debut of the Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Cruiser—a repurposed school bus designed to take CCS resources directly into neighborhoods.

For the fifth consecutive year, CCS was recognized with the State Superintendent's Purple Star Award by the NC Department of Public Instruction for implementing military-friendly practices and demonstrating a strong dedication to the unique needs of students from military families.
CCS' Communications and Community Engagement Department has been honored with six prestigious Gold Blue Ribbon Awards and one Silver Blue Ribbon Award from the North Carolina School Public Relations Association (NCSPRA) for outstanding and effective communications.
CCS is highlighting progress in student growth, graduation rates and several tested subjects following the release of the 2024-2025 accountability results by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. 78 percent of the schools in CCS met or exceeded growth.
Cumberland County Schools renewed its accreditation status, receiving Cognia® Systems Accreditation. Cognia, formerly AdvancED, is a nonprofit organization that provides quality assurance for schools, school districts and education service providers.
For the fourth consecutive year, the STARward STEM EXPO showcased 16 student teams from seven elementary, middle and high schools. Over the past three years, more than 170 teams and 1,000 students have competed, inspiring the next generation of space explorers and innovators.
