ALL Program: A Pipeline for the Advancement of School-based Mental Health Professionals

What is ALL?

The Alliance for Leading and Learning (ALL) is an initiative in Cumberland County Schools (CCS) to develop a pipeline for the advancement of school-based mental health professionals (SBMH). CCS has partnered with Fayetteville State University (FSU) and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP), along with RTI International, to implement this innovative program to address shortages in SBMH professionals.

The goal of the partnership is to place graduate students from the master’s of social work programs at FSU and UNCP and the UNCP’s master’s of school counseling program in schools within CCS to provide mental health care while earning important experience and credit hours in a supervised environment. The long-term outcome is expected to increase the number of School-Based Mental Health professionals working in high-need schools in Cumberland County. This initiative was made possible through the Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant Program sponsored by the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Who is eligible to participate in ALL?

School Counseling and Social Work students must be in their last year or concentration year of their master's program in order to apply.  Selected interns will complete all academic and field /internship requirements as outlined by the university. The ALL internship requires 650 hours, which includes the required hours for field placement/internship of the respective program. Selected students will complete an interdisciplinary, school-based mental health certification program to be administered by the school district.  Students/interns who wish to apply for this program will complete an application, including a statement of their interest in mental health within the school setting, and participate in a panel interview prior to acceptance into this program. For more information, contact your campus field advisor.
